Located in the quiet residential outskirts of Chattogram, Shahid Residence occupies a pleasant site framed by dense vegetation and open views. This home reflects the family’s vision for a space that encourages connection, safeguards personal privacy, and celebrates its natural surroundings.
Design Brief
Situated in the sub-urban fabric of Chattogram, Shahid Residence reinterprets the modern duplex home as a fluid and interconnected living environment. The idea was to create a home that feels open, bright, and alive. It responds to the family’s aspiration for togetherness and a close connection to nature while maintaining privacy and spatial hierarchy. The project integrates with its lush surroundings, blurring the threshold between interior and exterior through layered greenery, open terraces and strategically placed openings that invite light and air flow deep into the living spaces.
The composition is articulated through clean geometric volumes, where horizontal planes balance a striking vertical core that defines the building’s central axis. The bright feature wall anchors the facade, adding warmth and contrast to the neutral textures of concrete and plaster. Generous balconies and pergola-shaded verandas extend the living areas outward, while green creepers soften the linearity of the form, enhancing privacy and cooling. Internally, the layout prioritizes openness – fluid transitions between communal zones and private quarters ensure adaptability for evolving family dynamics. The design employs natural finishes and earthy tones to create a calm, enduring domestic environment that merges contemporary sensibilities with climatic responsiveness.
