Bait Ur Mamur Mosque is located at Nazirhat Pouroshova in Fatickchori, Chattogram. As Fatickchari is alongside the riverbank Halda River, the entire region is a piece of beautiful green tranquility. The renowned Maiz Bhandar Sharif is also located in this region. Due to which the number of devout Muslim people in this area are many. To accommodate this abundant devout Muslim, a mosque was required in this area and that was the reason to build this 2-storied sacred building, Bait Ur Mamur Mosque.
Concept and Design Brief
At the north side of the mosque, there is a family graveyard where rests the soul of the predecessor of the client. There is also a pond alongside this graveyard. One of the most visible aspects of the mosque is its Minaret, a tower adjacent or attached to a mosque, from which the call to prayer is announced. In this project, the Minaret is designed as a monumental element that is clutched by an open staircase connected at different levels.
Bait Ur Mamur Mosque is an attempt to create a space that is both naturally lightened & well ventilated. Wide windows of 7 ft height with glass surfaces let sunlight and natural air circulation inside the prayer space, bringing in essence of spirituality.
The Mosque can accommodate approximately 300 people. The building is divided into two parts. The main prayer space & the Shaan area. The Shaan area is also used for Islamic education space other than praying hour. There is a separate ablution space and toilet area.
