The architectural challenge for Khadi Ghar – A House of Indigenous Dresses was to create a spatial identity that honors this deep-rooted tradition while reimagining ethnic attire within a contemporary retail environment. Rather than framing indigenous clothing through a purely nostalgic lens, the context demanded a modern cultural sanctuary—a space that bridges traditional textile heritage with forward-looking design, offering patrons a sophisticated and immersive environment to engage with local handloom traditions.
Design Brief
Team Vector Plinth translated the ethos of Khadi Ghar into a bold architectural narrative, celebrating traditional indigenous craft through a refined, contemporary lens. The spatial composition is anchored by sweeping artistic curves and soft sculptural forms that mirror the drape and fluid rhythm of handwoven textiles, gently guiding visitors through the space. An organic material palette—characterized by muted earthy tones, tactile wall textures, and warm natural finishes—creates a serene, grounded backdrop that allows the vibrant colors and intricate weaves of the collections to take center stage. Complemented by bespoke display modules and carefully calibrated accent lighting, the design seamlessly balances operational efficiency with a sensory-driven retail journey, establishing a space where rich heritage effortlessly meets modern spatial sophistication.
